People: “Is tantra another word for sex?” Me: “No.”

Living a tantric life, to me, is about LIVING LIFE ARTFULLY.
Living a tantric life, to me, is a LOVE REBELLION.

In essence, approaching life like one grand rebellious piece of love art.
We can co-create (with divinity) a beautiful conscious reality with this awareness.
Tantra - unlike religion - says YES PLEASE to our humanness. It all its breath-taking, messy, broken, tender, beautiful textures.
Tantra, to me, is drinking the nectar of divinity within our very own bodies.
Yes. We can experience divinity in this human body.
Because we are both human and divine.
Yes. People around us will shame us for our sexual expression.
Don’t talk about it openly, they will say. And definitely don’t display it. Hide it away. It’s not safe, they will say.
DO IT ANYWAY. I say.

Do it more.
Shakti is the most powerful and creative life force energy.
Our sexual energy is GOD damn holy and sacred.
Our desire leads us, like delicious freshly-baked bread crumbs, to the reason that we exist on this beautiful planet.

Our sexual energy is the EROS OF LIFE ITSELF pulsating through our veins.
Tantra, to me, says don’t suppress this life force. Celebrate it as a gift with ritual and ceremony. Celebrate other people’s sexual expression too.
Letting our sexual energy move through us is an act of devotion, as we are connecting to the divine. And connecting to the divine, for me, is the most important thing in life, bar nothing.

So sex is part of tantra, yes, because making love can be a beautiful devotional meditation. We are taking seed and planting it in the earth.
It is a living, breathing, pulsating prayer.
It is knocking at the gates of heaven, the doors being flung open, God welcoming us with wide open arms, and the deep surrender of the exhale that follows…
But that is not the whole of tantra. Tantra is everything. It is even wider than animism. It is the most beautiful conversation with all that is.
Tantra is an expansion tool. That is what the word literally means.
TAN = expansion
TRA = tool
The expansion tools used in tantra to allow energy to flow, which helps us connect deeper to the divine, are three-fold:
BREATH
SOUND
MOVEMENT
Tantra is about moving from ego consciousness to oneness.
Tantra is the remembrance that we are magic in motion.
Tantra is the beautiful weaving of the masculine and feminine energies.
Tantra is about embracing all of life’s contradictions, as they all exist simultaneously.
I knew tantra was my path when I learnt from Iris Disse @durgastigerschool that tantra was a path of rebellion.
Rebellion has always boiled in my blood from an early age. Manifesting as fighting for justice, even though it hurts sometimes (pretty much all the time). Rebelling against what society told me to be. Rebelling against the brainwashing of the patriarchy. Rebelling against being a ‘good girl’.
The systems that we operate in at an international and societal level are not conscious and they are not beautiful.
Living an artful / tantric life, to me, is about keeping our hearts and bodies open, IN SPITE OF EVERYTHING.
Living a tantric life, to me, is about dedicating my life to returning to love. RETURNING TO LOVE. That is my revolution. My activism. My rebellion. That’s the service I want to dedicate my life to.
Put me to work, I say to God.
Put me to GOD damn work.
